Triceratops means "thre-horned face". This giant was a four-legged plant-eating dinosaur. It was one of the last and largest in its family, Ceratopsidae to evolve. A Triceratops could grow to 30 feet in length and weigh as much as 6 tons. Its massive head sported a short but solid neck frill, two long horns protruded at the brow, and a shorter horn extended from its nose. It is thought that these dinosaurs lived in groups for added protection. They probably grazed on plants among ancient redwood forests.
