This model is 11.5 inches long, 2.5 inches in width and 7 inches tall. Recommended for ages seven and up, but could be handled by a child as young as five years old with parental help.
Stegosaurus means "roof lizard". It was a plant eater with four legs. It was the largest of the dinosaurs with plates. In fact, it had two rows of bony plates running from the back of its head along the spine all the way back to the tail. Their precise function is not known, they may have been used for a combination of defense, mating rituals, and heat exchange (to help regulate body temperatures). At the end of the tail were positioned four long spikes. They could be used like a club to defend the Stegosaurus from carnivorous dinosaurs.
