Spinosaurus also means "thorn lizard". This creature was a huge flesh-eater that roamed about on two legs. It had an interesting sail of skin that ran along its spine. This sail was supported by long, blade-like spines that grew out of the backbone. Amazingly the backbone of the Spinasaurus grew to nearly 6 feet in height. It is thought that this sail was probably used as a radiator to regulate body temperature. The animal's teeth were straight and non-serrated in a manner similar to that of a modern crocodile.
