The name "Apatosaurus" means "decptive lizard". It was a very big plant-eating sauropod. At one time it was known as "Brontosaurus". It had a very long, a thick neck, and treetrunk-like legs. The Apatosaurus had a small head in relation to its hulking body. They measured up to 70 feet in length. The Apatasaurus could weigh as much a 36 tons. It is impossible to know now but it is thought that these dinosaurs were equally at home in both in water and on land.
